New REEEP focal point in West Africa

REEEP activities in West Africa are getting a boost thanks the formation of the ECOWAS Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE). The ECREEE Secretariat is based in Cape Verde and has the mission of establishing an enabling environment for renewable energy and energy efficient technologies in West African countries. In cooperation with its national focal institutions in all ECOWAS member states, the ECREEE Secretariat will support policy development, assist in the creation of tailored financial mechanisms, and conduct capacity building and awareness raising activities. CTI PFAN Project Development & Financing Workshops for AFRICEF

Three Project Development & Financing Workshops for the shortlisted projects,  participating in the CTI PFAN Africa Forum for Clean Energy Financing (AFRICEF), were held in May 2010 in Kampala (21.05), Maputo (24.05) and Johannesburg (26.05). The workshops were designed by CTI PFAN to provide expert input to the selected project developers on the development and structuring of their projects and the preparation of bankable business plans and investor pitches from professional advisors, clean energy investors and development banks.

SANERI, NEEA and CSIR Partner to Establish the South African Regional Energy Efficiency Centre (SAREEC)

In its search for appropriate energy solutions to meet the future energy needs of South  Africa, the Southern African Development Community and the sub-Saharan African region, the South African National Energy Research Institute (SANERI) and the National Energy Efficiency Agency (NEEA) is taking hands with the CSIR and Industry to develop the South African Regional Energy Efficiency Centre (SAREEC), to be administered by AAAMSA.

Power Kick for Africa

From June 21- 23, 2010 the World Future Council organised an international strategy workshop on renewable energy policies entitled “Power Kick for Africa” in Accra, Ghana. The workshop gathered members of the African Renewable Energy Alliance (AREA) to elaborate policy technologies and financial mechanisms for the deployment of renewable energies in Africa. Partners of the workshop were the Energy Commission of Ghana, REEEP, SolarWorld, Alliance for Rural Electrification, Energiebau Sunergy Ghana and Alternative Energy Africa Magazine.

Gauteng Gets eWaste Wise

ACER and The Miss Earth South Africa in association with Consol teamed up to launch an eWaste initiative. This project saw a group of schools in Gauteng chosen to receive an eWaste bin proudly sponsored by ACER. The Miss Earth South Africa team and finalists launched the initiative along with Acer Brand Ambassador Paul Rothman last week at Crawford College and King David Linksfield. Learners were educated on the need for eWaste disposal and how they can actively ensure that they clean up their homes of eWaste.

We believe that we now offer better results than Google itself on all clean energy issues, as we still use our pre-selected high quality sites as our pool of information and use the Google algorithm to provide the user with the best search results.
